How do I ...

... become a new member at Chapel Hill?

You are most welcome!!  You can become a member at Chapel Hill through one of the following methods:                                                                                                                                                                      1)  Profession of faith, this means that you are accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior as explained in Romans 10:9-10 and agree to soon follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.
2)  Statement of faith, this means that there was a previous point and time in your life where you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior as explained in Romans 10:9-10 and then followed the Lord in believer’s baptism.
3)  Transfer of membership, this is transfer of your membership from another church.

You will need to fill out the new membership form found here.  Once you have turned it in, the Pastor will bring it up for a vote by the church.  As long as a majority votes, "Amen", you become a member.  Don't worry, we've never had anyone not receive a unaminous vote.

Chapel Hill Baptist Church has the following two requirements for membership: 1)  There was a point in time where you accepted salvation as described in Romans 10:9-10, 2)  You have followed the example of Jesus Christ in believer's baptism.  (However, baptism can also take place after you have been voted in as a church member.  Baptism forms can be found here.)

Of course, if you are inspired to come forward during a church service for membership, we will take a vote at that time and you can fill out the forms afterwards.

Inactive Members

Note:  If a member does not attend services for 6 months, their membership becomes inactive.  This means that they cannot participate in church business meetings or vote on church matters.  They will need to reapply for membership upon returning.  Exceptions are made for leaves of absences communicated to the church in writing.

... become baptized at Chapel Hill Baptist Church?

You will need to fill out the baptism form found here.  Once the form has been filled out and submitted, the Pastor will schedule a service for your baptism.  You should bring a change of clothes and a towel as you will be fully submerged in a tub of water.  The water will be heated to make it more comfortable.

Once you have been baptized, you will receive a certificate suitable for framing.  This certificate is important as it is one of the legal documents used to establish age or citizenship.  It also may be required in the future if you move and desire to transfer your membership to another church.

Believer's baptism is one of the requirements for membership at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.  Believer's baptism indicates that you have already accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and are following his example by being fully immersed in water.  This symbolizes His death and resurrection and publicly expresses your committment to following Him.

Since baptism does not guarantee salvation and since salvation is first required for believer's baptism, the applicant must be old enough to understand what sin and death are in order to understand that Jesus died and rose again to take away our sins.

... have my baby or child dedicated to the Lord?

You will need to fill out a Baby Dedication form found here

Please understand that dedication is not the same as baptism.  Dedication is the parents' announcement to God and the church that they will raise their child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord to the best of their ability.  It is also a request to the church to help them in this committment.

Once the form has been filled out and submitted, the Pastor will schedule a service for the dedication of the child.  You will receive a dedication certificate suitable for framing.

... get a parent release form for a youth event?

Parent permission/release forms can be found herePlease make sure that you fill out the emergency contact information on the back or second page.  Anyone under the age of 18 must have a signed and filled-out release form before they can attend a Chapel Hill Baptist Church special event.  This releases the church members from liability and ensures that your child will be properly cared for in the case of an emergency.

... reserve the church and/or fellowship hall?

If you wish to reserve the church and/or the fellowship hall for an event, please contact Pastor Bill or sister Tracy Roberts.  The church and fellowship hall can only be reserved by an active church member.  Please understand that no alcohol or un-Christian activities or events will be permitted.  You will be responsible for  any set-up required prior to the event and for all clean-up at the end of your event.
