... become a new member at Chapel Hill?
You are most welcome!! You can become a member at Chapel Hill through one of the following methods: 1) Profession of faith, this means that you are accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior as explained in Romans 10:9-10 and agree to soon follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.
2) Statement of faith, this means that there was a previous point and time in your life where you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior as explained in Romans 10:9-10 and then followed the Lord in believer’s baptism.
3) Transfer of membership, this is transfer of your membership from another church.
You will need to fill out the new membership form found here. Once you have turned it in, the Pastor will bring it up for a vote by the church. As long as a majority votes, "Amen", you become a member. Don't worry, we've never had anyone not receive a unaminous vote.
Chapel Hill Baptist Church has the following two requirements for membership: 1) There was a point in time where you accepted salvation as described in Romans 10:9-10, 2) You have followed the example of Jesus Christ in believer's baptism. (However, baptism can also take place after you have been voted in as a church member. Baptism forms can be found here.)
Of course, if you are inspired to come forward during a church service for membership, we will take a vote at that time and you can fill out the forms afterwards.
Inactive Members
Note: If a member does not attend services for 6 months, their membership becomes inactive. This means that they cannot participate in church business meetings or vote on church matters. They will need to reapply for membership upon returning. Exceptions are made for leaves of absences communicated to the church in writing.
